Wrap Tightly in Plastic Wrap or Foil
5
Description
Creating an airtight seal around the wet brush or roller prevents the paint solvent (usually water for latex paint) from evaporating.
Recipe/Instructions
- Remove excess paint from the brush/roller by scraping it against the edge of the paint can or rolling it out on the tray ramp. Do not rinse.
- Brush: Wrap the bristles tightly in plastic wrap (cling film) or aluminum foil, ensuring the wrap seals around the metal ferrule (the part holding the bristles) to block air entry.
- Roller: Wrap the entire roller cover (while still on the frame or removed) tightly in plastic wrap or foil. Alternatively, slide the wet roller cover into a large zip-top plastic bag and seal it, squeezing out excess air.
- Store the wrapped applicator in a cool place, out of direct sunlight.
- Should keep paint wet for several hours up to a day or two (depending on paint type and seal quality).
- Unwrap and resume painting when ready.
