Use a DIY Guide Block or Square
3
Description
Using a physical guide helps keep the drill bit aligned vertically.
Recipe/Instructions
- Guide Block: Take two small, square blocks of scrap wood. Join them together securely at a perfect 90-degree angle using glue or screws, forming an 'L' shape.
- Position Guide: Place the inside corner of this 'L' shaped guide block directly against the point where you intend to drill.
- Align Drill: Place the drill bit into the corner of the guide.
- Drill: Keep the drill bit pressed against both inside surfaces of the guide block as you begin drilling. The block forces the bit to enter the material perpendicularly.
- Alternative: A small carpenter's square held firmly against the drill bit can serve a similar purpose.
What makes the Dish Special
