Vinegar soak and scrub.
3
Warm white vinegar acts as a mild solvent that softens gum enough to scrub it out of carpet fibers. It is a natural, low-cost option that avoids petroleum-based chemicals.
How It Works
Heat white vinegar until warm and apply it directly to the gum using a cloth. Let it soak for a few minutes so the acetic acid can soften the gum's structure. Then scrub with a stiff brush to lift the loosened gum from the carpet pile.
Limitations
Vinegar works more slowly than freezing and may require repeated applications for large or deeply embedded gum. The smell dissipates as it dries. It is generally safe for most carpet materials.
