Use WD-40 for gum removal.

4

WD-40 is a petroleum-based solvent that can dissolve the adhesive bonds in chewing gum, making it easier to wipe away from carpet. It works quickly but introduces chemical residue.

How It Works

Spray WD-40 directly onto the gum and wait a few minutes. The solvents and light oils in WD-40 penetrate and break down the gum's polymers. Wipe the softened gum away with a cloth or paper towel.

Drawbacks

WD-40 leaves an oily residue on carpet that can attract dirt and may cause discoloration on some fabrics. A thorough follow-up cleaning with warm soapy water is necessary. Use in a ventilated area due to fumes.
