Submerge and gently agitate by hand
4
Press the garment into the soapy water until fully submerged. Gently swish and press the fabric through the water for 2-3 minutes, moving it around so soapy water flows through all areas of the garment.
Why It Works
Gentle hand agitation moves soapy water through fabric fibers, loosening dirt and dissolving body oils without the mechanical stress of a machine drum. Consistent, gentle motion is more effective than vigorous scrubbing and protects the fabric from damage.
Tips
- Focus on high-soil areas: underarms, collars, and cuffs
- Never rub fabric against itself — this causes pilling and fiber damage
- When washing multiple items per batch, agitate each garment individually for best results
- 2-3 minutes of gentle agitation is sufficient for lightly soiled everyday items
