Use Silicone Spray

Silicone spray is one of the best lubricants for door hinges. It creates a thin, slippery film that resists dust, moisture, and temperature extremes, and it will not stain or damage most surfaces.

Steps

1. Use the straw nozzle to spray a short burst directly into each hinge knuckle
2. Open and close the door several times to distribute the lubricant
3. Wipe off any overspray with a dry cloth

Why It Works

Silicone is a true lubricant that bonds to metal surfaces and lasts for months. Unlike WD-40, it does not evaporate quickly. Unlike petroleum-based products, it does not attract dust or become gummy over time.

Tips

• Avoid getting silicone spray on floors -- it makes them extremely slippery
