Drafty Windows and Doors

Drafty windows and doors allow conditioned air to escape and outside air to infiltrate, leading to uncomfortable indoor temperatures and higher energy bills. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, windows alone account for 25-30% of residential heating energy loss. Older homes with single-pane glass, deteriorated seals, or warped frames are especially vulnerable. Even newer homes can develop drafts as caulk shrinks, weather stripping compresses, and door frames shift with seasonal expansion and contraction. Identifying and sealing these air leaks is one of the most cost-effective home improvements available, often paying for itself within a single heating season.
