Flush eyes with preservative-free artificial tears

What to Do

Rinse eyes with preservative-free artificial tears (Refresh Optive, Systane Ultra, or TheraTears) several times throughout the day, especially after coming indoors.

Why It Works

Artificial tears physically wash pollen and allergens off the eye surface, dilute inflammatory mediators in the tear film, and soothe irritated tissue. Preservative-free formulations avoid the additional irritation that preservatives like BAK can cause in already-inflamed eyes.

• Use before applying medicated allergy eye drops to clear the surface first
