Wash your face and eyelids after outdoor exposure
3
What to Do
Wash your face with cool water and gently clean your eyelids and lashes with a damp cloth or lid wipe when you come indoors. This removes pollen that has settled on your skin and lashes.
Why It Works
Pollen grains collect on eyelashes, eyebrows, and the skin around the eyes throughout the day. Every blink redistributes these allergens across the eye surface. Removing them promptly reduces continued exposure even after you are indoors.
Tips
- Baby shampoo diluted on a cotton pad works well for eyelid cleaning
- Pre-moistened lid wipes (OCuSOFT, Systane) are convenient alternatives
- Make this a habit every time you come inside during allergy season
- Follow with allergy eye drops for maximum benefit
