Vacuum crevices thoroughly and dispose of bag outside
4
What to Do
Vacuum all mattress seams, box spring folds, bed frame joints, headboard crevices, baseboards, carpet edges, and upholstered furniture seams using a crevice attachment. Immediately seal the vacuum bag or canister contents in a plastic bag and dispose in an outdoor trash bin.
Why It Works
Vacuuming physically removes bed bugs, eggs, shed skins, and fecal matter from surfaces. While it does not eliminate an infestation on its own, it reduces the population and removes allergens. Vacuuming before professional treatment improves results by exposing bugs that would otherwise be protected by debris.
Tips
- Do not use a vacuum with a reusable bag unless you can seal it immediately after
- Vacuum the same areas multiple times — bed bug eggs are sticky and may not release on the first pass
- Focus on seams, tufts, folds, and any crevice where a credit card edge could fit
- Repeat vacuuming every 2-3 days during active treatment
- This is a supplement to professional treatment, not a standalone solution
