Manage noise triggers
3
Minimize disturbances that provoke alarm calls, especially during early morning and nighttime hours. Position the goose enclosure away from high-traffic areas such as roads, sidewalks, and neighboring yards, and establish a predictable daily routine for feeding and interaction.
Why It Works
Geese honk in response to perceived threats — unfamiliar people, loose pets, sudden movements, or unexpected objects. Reducing exposure to these stimuli directly reduces the frequency of alarm calling. A consistent routine also lowers baseline stress, making the flock less reactive.
Tips
- Place the enclosure at least 15-20 meters from property boundaries where possible
- Avoid motion-activated lights near the coop that could startle geese at night
- Introduce new objects, animals, or people gradually rather than suddenly
