Use Stackable Cage Systems

4

Set up vertical stackable cage units to house multiple groups of quail in a compact footprint. Commercial units typically come in 2-5 tier configurations, each tier holding 10-20 Coturnix quail. Position the stack on a level surface with at least 12 inches clearance beneath the bottom tier for cleaning.

Why It Works

Vertical stacking multiplies capacity without increasing floor area, making it ideal for small backyards or garages. Integrated dropping trays between tiers keep lower birds clean, and built-in egg roll-out channels simplify daily collection. Separating birds by tier also allows grouping by age, sex, or breeding purpose.

Tips

  • Ensure the frame is sturdy enough to support full weight at maximum tiers; wobbling stacks stress birds
  • Keep the top tier below eye level so you can easily inspect and access every cage
  • Pull and clean dropping trays at least every other day to prevent ammonia concentration in enclosed spaces
