Rinse delicates thoroughly in cool water
4
After washing, drain the soapy water and refill the basin with clean, cool water. Gently press the garment through the rinse water. Repeat with fresh water until no suds remain — usually 2-3 rinse cycles.
Why It Works
Detergent residue left in delicate fibers attracts dirt, stiffens fabric, and can cause discoloration or deterioration over time. Protein fibers like silk are especially sensitive to residual alkalinity. Thorough rinsing in cool water removes all soap without heat stress.
Tips
- Add a splash of white vinegar to the final rinse to neutralize any remaining detergent
- The water should run completely clear with no bubbles
- Never wring between rinses — just lift and gently press
