Provide suitable nesting areas
4
Set up ground-level nesting spots inside the goose shelter using simple wooden frames or partitioned corners, each roughly 60 cm x 60 cm. Line them with 10-15 cm of clean straw and place them in quiet, dimly lit areas away from high-traffic zones.
Why It Works
Geese are ground nesters that seek secluded, safe locations to lay. Providing dedicated nesting areas channels this instinct toward spots where eggs stay clean, protected, and easy to collect. Without designated nests, geese will choose hidden outdoor locations where eggs are lost or damaged.
Tips
- Refresh straw bedding at least twice a week to keep nests dry and clean
- One nesting box per 2-3 geese is usually sufficient
- If a goose insists on an outdoor spot, place a simple shelter over it and collect daily
