Prevent buildup with regular maintenance

5

Wipe up spills as soon as the oven cools after each use, and do a light clean with soapy water or vinegar spray weekly. Line the bottom of the oven with a reusable non-stick oven liner or a sheet of aluminum foil to catch drips before they carbonize.

Why It Works

Fresh spills are easy to remove; burned-on deposits are not. A few minutes of regular wiping prevents the heavy buildup that requires harsh chemicals or hours of scrubbing. Prevention is always easier than restoration.

Tips

  • Never place foil directly on the oven floor of electric ovens — use a rack below the food instead
  • Reusable PTFE oven liners are dishwasher-safe and last for years
  • Keep a spray bottle of diluted dish soap near the oven for quick wipe-downs
  • Cover dishes that tend to splatter (casseroles, pies) with foil or a lid while baking
  • A quick monthly baking soda wipe prevents grease from ever hardening
