Steam clean with a pan of water

3

Place a large oven-safe pan filled with water on the bottom rack and heat the oven to 250°F (120°C) for 30-60 minutes. The steam loosens grease and light deposits so they wipe away easily with a cloth.

Why It Works

Steam penetrates and softens baked-on residue through heat and moisture alone. This is the gentlest possible approach — zero chemicals, zero fumes — making it ideal for people with severe allergies, asthma, or chemical sensitivities.

Tips

  • Add a few tablespoons of white vinegar or lemon juice to the water for extra cutting power
  • Best for light to moderate buildup; heavy carbonized deposits may need a follow-up method
  • Wipe surfaces while the oven is still warm (not hot) for easiest removal
  • Works well as a regular maintenance step between deeper cleans
